I was very unhappy with the quality of the math work that Ben and done on Thursday. WE talked about his need to provide better attention to work he was not very interested in. I offered an incentive (bowling Friday) based on improved quality between now and then.
Fridays work was as bad as Thursdays. I was perplexed but mostly maintained my cool. We reviewed what he had failed to do (neatness, check answers in the back of the book, use the 'does it make sense' test) and then I assigned him more problems from the same section. Those answeres were not in the back of the book so I had to do all of the problems to give him a list of the answers.
I was pleased that he did a much better job on the redo and gave a similar effort to todays work. Hopefully that can be leveraged to more good work.
